Isolated and sequenced from the brain of the tobacco hornworm, Manduca sexta, this neuropeptide is a 13-residue amidated peptide that activates juvenile hormones (JH) synthesis in adult, but not larval lepidopteran corpora allata. It is expressed in both the central and enteric nervous systems. |
