Description

This truncated form of Exendin-4 amide in which the two N-terminal amino acids (His and Gly) have been removed is a potent Glucagon-Like Peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor antagonist. Unlike the full length Exendin-4 (a GLP-1 agonist), Exendin (3-39) antagonizes GLP-1–stimulated insulin release after food intake. It has about 3-fold more potent antagonist activity than the Exendin (9-39) antagonist.
