First MAGE CTL epitope mapped, it is the HLA-A1-restricted MAGE-1 peptide. Human melanoma cells can process the MAGE-1 gene product and present tit on their major histocompatibility complex class I molecules, HLA-A1, as a determinant for cytolytic T lymphocytes (CTLs).
