ß-Secretase (BACE1) is a key enzyme involved in the production of Aß peptides found in extracellular amyloid plaques of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The enzyme has been implicated as an excellent target for anti-amyloid therapy of AD. This FRET peptide is an internally quenched fluorescent substrate based on the ß-Secretase-cleavable peptide sequence. Upon cleavage by ß-Secretase, the Mca fragment is liberated from the proximity quenching effect of Dnp (2,4-dinitrophenyl), Abs/Em=325/393 nm.
