This peptide is a modification of the amyloid toxicity inhibitor peptide 11 with Trp4 and Trp8 replacing Gly4 and Gly8 of the original peptide. This peptide is highly effective in blocking beta-amyloid 1 to 40 fibrillization. It is the most effective inhibitor among the amyloid toxicity inhibitor peptides group. The observation that the peptide 110 is able to depolymerize mature b-amyloid 1 to 40 supports the view that these are dynamic structures and suggests that targeting beta-sheet packing may be an effective strategy for depolymerizing amyloid plagues.
