This is a scrambled version of the mimetic inhibitory peptide sequence Pannexin 1. The scrambled peptide does not need to fold the same way as the authentic sequence. They could be either larger and be (partially) excluded from the channel or they may be smaller and occlude less of the channel. The folding pattern of the scrambled peptide can help relieve steric constrains on the channel, which is useful when applying dyes.
