This peptide sequence is found in residues 50 to 74 of MOG (Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein). This HLA-DR4-restricted epitope play a major role in destabilizing myelin through myelin basic protein breakdown mediated by neutral proteases and thus have an important role in the pathogenesis of MS through the studies of the secretion of IFN-gamma, IL-4, IL-5, and IL-10.
