This peptide is histone H3 (69-89) trimethylated at Lys79 and phosphorylated at Thr80, followed by a C-terminal Lys biotinylated on its epsilon side chain. Lys79 and Thr80 are part of a genomic silencing cluster whose side chains are exposed on the nucleosome surface and interact with silencing proteins. Modification of these residues disrupts telomeric and mating locus silencing. Lys79 methylation is mediated by DOT1 protein and limits transcriptional repression to discrete loci by inhibiting the binding of Sir proteins to other locations. Provided at >95% peptide purity, this peptide was dissolved in distilled water at 1 mg/ml and re-lyophilized to powder form.
