Recent articles by B. Turk
et al.1-2 reported the use of positional scanning synthetic peptide
combinatorial libraries (PS-SPCL)3 for rapid identification of
serine/threonine kinase phosphorylation motif. As the key supplier of kinase
peptide libraries mentioned in the articles, AnaSpec is pleased to announce
the worldwide commercial availability of its newest kinase peptide library.
Protein kinases play an
important universal role in the regulation of signal transduction pathways
by catalyzing the reversible phosphorylation of protein substrates. To date,
518 putative protein kinase genes have been identified, but not all have been
characterized.4 Profiling the sequence preference of different
kinases will help in understanding the roles played by the different kinases
as well as identification of potential inhibitors.1
The library consists of
198 distinct peptide mixtures. “In each mixture, one of the 20 naturally occurring
proteogenic amino acids was fixed at each of 9 positions surrounding a central
serine/threonine residue.” 2
The following shows how
these peptides are configured:
Group I:
