Several mutations in the beta amyloid precursor gene cause autosomal dominant Alzheimer's Disease in a number of kindreds. Amond them, the A21G Flemish mutation is unique as it shows a low tendency to aggregation, while deposits progressively appear in the vessel walls. In addition, the brain deposits are prefereably composed of A-beta 1-40 rather than A beta 1-42, in oppostiion to the other familial AD.
