GPCR Peptides - PAR Agonists & Antagonists
GPCR Peptides - PAR

The transmembrane G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family represents the largest collection of membrane bound receptors and is involved in a variety of physiological events occurring in the cells. Molecules that bind and activate these receptors can be short peptides or proteins.

AnaSpec is a provider of a large collection of catalog (GO) peptides. In continuous support of GPCR research, we recently launched 15 new PAR (protease activated receptor) peptide agonists and antagonists. Some of these newly released PAR peptides consist of unusual amino acids substituted in place of standard amino acids. Request an online quote if custom synthesis of more unusual amino acids containing sequences is needed.

PAR Peptides

Protease or Proteinase-Activated Receptors, PARs, belong to the seven transmembrane G-protein coupled family of receptors.1 These receptors are activated when the amino terminus of the receptor is cleaved by specific serine proteases - thrombin (PAR-1, 3 and 4) and trypsin (PAR-2). 2 The cleaved amino end can then act as a tethered ligand on the second extracellular loop of the receptor thereby activating the receptor. 1 Short sequences contained in the amino terminus have been found to activate the receptors on their own, without the need for the protease cleavage.
