Fmoc-Ebes-OH (N-(Fmoc-8-amino-3,6-dioxa-octyl)succinamic acid) is a spacer ideal for peptide labeling in solid phase synthesis developed by Song, et al.1-2 With its linear, flexible, hydrophilic structure, and well-defined molecular mass, this PEG-like spacer not only segregates the peptides from the reporter groups, but has better water solubility and ionization ability, making it more amenable for mass spectrometry analysis. This Fmoc protected spacer is available in crystalline form and can be stored at 4C for up to two years without significant decomposition.
