Dansyl cadaverine is the most popular fluorescent transglutaminase substrate to label proteins by transaminidation. It has also been used to prepare other small fluorescent biomolecules via amidation or reductive amination. It should be noted that the Dansyl fluorescence is highly environment-sensitive.
