Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP’s) belong to a family of secreted or membrane-associated zinc endopeptidases capable of digesting extracellular matrix components. The human MMP-1 is purified from fibroblasts and becomes highly active when incubated with APMA. It can be used as a positive control in FRET-based enzyme activity assay, zymography, Western blot, IP, and ELISA. This is sold as a pro-form and activation is required.
