This cationic antimicrobial peptide is Sub5, a variant of Bac2a containing five amino acid substitutions. Sub5 directly interacts with ATP to inhibit ATP-dependent enzymes, and shows activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses.
