The Senior Organic Chemist is creative, self-motivated, possesses a forward-looking vision and strong troubleshooting skills in organic synthesis. This individual must have an innovative spirit and seeks to continue researching for new methods/products. This individual must be able to multitask routinely, handle custom peptide synthesis techniques, be accountable for managing all phases of their assigned projects from concept through to release, and ensure adequate prioritization and timely execution of projects. As a member of our team, the Senior Organic Chemist will work closely with the Synthesis, Purification, QC, and Sales & Business Development departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform the synthesis of Peptides, UAADs, and other organic compounds
• Method development for C-terminal, N-terminal, and internal peptide modifications
• Purification of process intermediates and compounds
• Perform in-process peptide or other molecule analysis using MALDI-MS, LC-MS, HPLC, TLC, -UV-Vis, and NMR
• Keeps abreast of current technological trends and developments and continues to innovate and research for new methods/products
• Prepare process control documents/procedures
• Manages the team's resources according to project priorities
• Train and share knowledge with team members and other departments
• Present and report project updates weekly or as requested
• Recommends alternatives and suggestions to improve processes, validity and/or Accuracy
• Strictly follow laboratory safety protocols
• Ensure implementation, compliance, and continuous improvement of QMS through SOP documentation
• Work closely with Quality Assurance/Quality Control and other departments to ensure that products meets and/or exceeds both ISO9001 and specific requirements from customers

REQUIREMENTS

• Ph.D. in organic chemistry or equivalent experience
• Strong background in organic and peptide chemistry
• A high degree of creativity is required
• Forward looking vision and a passion for science
• Strong peptide synthesis using SPPS and solution phase methods preferred
• Work experience in biotech/life science industry environment preferred
• Must be organized and detail oriented
