The native peptide, PLSRTLSVSS-NH2, is a synthetic substrate for Ca2+-calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (Km = 7.5 µM). Maximal activation of the decapeptide substrate phosphorylation requires the presence of Ca2+ and calmodulin and is dependent on Ca2+ concentration.
