p53 Peptides
p53 – The Guardian of cell integrity
p53 is a tumor suppressor protein induced upon stress signals.
Activated p53 leads to the activation of several pathways that regulate DNA repair, cell cycle and apoptosis.
Inactivation of p53 regulated pathways often occurs in tumor cells.
Peptides within the p53 sequence can function as analogs and target specific domains such as Mdm-2. Furthermore, modifications of certain amino acid residues can help in understanding mechanisms of action such as ubiquitination thereby giving insight into half-lives or activation of p53.
