How does an ELISA work?

Typically, in an ELISA assay, wells are pre-coated with monoclonal antibodies or specific capture antibodies and blocked with a proprietary blocking solution. The amount of protein present in the sample and captured by the antibody is quantified using a reaction with a labeled (HRP) secondary/detection antibody followed by color detection in a colorimeter.
