NRC-16, is a 19 amino acid cationic peptide, derived from witch flounder. NRC-16 shows a potent inhibitory effect against Gram-negative bacteria, Gram-positive bacteria and fungi. When tested for antibiofilm activity with P. aeruginosa strains NRC-16 inhibited biofilm formation with no cytotoxic effects. Since NRC-16 displays antimicrobial and antibiofilm activities with less cytotoxicity, it can be considered for treatment of microbial infections.
