Spexin-2 (NPQ 53-70) is a novel peptide hormone that is derived from prohormone proNPQ and is conserved amongst mammal species. It contributes to CNS-mediated control of arterial blood pressure and salt and water balance and modulates nociceptive responses. This is amidated Spexin-2 (53-70) peptide showing similar biological function as that of its non- amidated version. Spexin-2, when administered to rats, decreases heart rate and increases urine flow rate.
