Peptide Conjugation
AnaSpec offers custom peptide–carrier protein conjugation services for antibody or vaccine development. Common carrier proteins include KLH, BSA, OVA, and CRM197.
Peptides are typically too small for recognition by the immune system to generate a response. Hence they are commonly conjugated to larger carrier protein to stimulate the immune system.
One-Stop Convenience
From synthesis to conjugation, completed in a single order.

Conjugation Chemistry
To achieve site-selective and chemoselective conjugation Maleimide–thiol chemistry is our standard method for linking peptides to carrier proteins. The peptide is synthesized to contain a cysteine residue positioned at either the N- or C-terminus of the sequence.
The maleimide-activated carrier protein reacts specifically with the thiol (–SH) group on the cysteine residue to form a stable thioether linkage, ensuring a robust and reliable conjugate.
Alternative conjugation strategies may be available upon consultation.
FAQ
What is conjugation effiency?
It is the percentage of peptide bound to the carrier protein.
What is the difference between BSA and cBSA?
Native BSA has a neutral to slightly negative charge at physiological pH. cBSA is chemically modified with primary amines, resulting in a strong net positive charge.
What carrier proteins can you conjugate to peptides?
Yes, we can individually conjugate your peptide to several carrier proteins. For example, we can conjugate 1mg peptide to BSA and another 1mg peptide to KLH, and deliver each in a separate vial.
How is my peptide-carrier protein conjugate shipped?
The conjugated peptide is shipped on blue ice.
How should I store my peptide-carrier protein conjugate?
Store at 2-8°C for a few days or -20°C for longer term, avoiding repeat freeze-thaw cycles.
